In Search Of A Missing Book

Have you ever had a book that you lost and can’t recall the title of it? Do you search possible titles for it on Google or book data bases, but can’t find it for the life of you? Once I found a book completely by chance. It was at a picnic book sale in Quebec where a lady suggested it to me. The cover had a slim brunette in a white empire gown with a blue ribbon under the bust. Her dark hair was up in a bun. I can’t recall the name of that book now and I want to see if I can get it and read it again. I’ve been through several moves since then, so I lost touch with it. It’s not a type of book I would normally choose – a Regency romance of all things! But the mood of the cover intrigued me and I really enjoyed the unique story and the characters.

The premise of the story is that the heroine marries her friend’s rich brother for convenience. They have the most awkward relationship at the start and their conversations consist of painfully simple chats about the weather. As the story progresses, they start to interact more as they frequent balls and parties; she discovers she’s starting to have feelings for him – but she’s afraid he’ll never love her. It was written in the 1960s/1970s and the author is a willowy brunette (Her picture is on the back of the book cover that I had). It’s legit been bothering me lately that I can’t find the title – one problem with being a creative big picture thinker – I can describe the cover design, but can’t remember the actual name of the book. If anyone might have any clue which book this could be, I would be forever grateful to you! I think I’ll have to read it again if I can ever find it. The story was like none I had ever read before and the cover in particular was so cool to me – it was like a fusion of 1970’s style and Regency style. And what makes it harder to find is that it’s not a recent release – to find it, I’d have to ask someone who read a lot of authors from the 1970’s era.

If you have any ideas what the title could be, let me know in the comments below. I will do my very best to thank you properly. I’ll send a free book or buy one of yours! I’m serious about finding this book. If I do get to have in my hands again, it’ll be one of the most satisfying things!

  1. It’s neat that the cover design made such an impression on you that you remember it well. And this is a neat search to track down the book. Have you tried a Google image search for the cover?

    • Yes and nothing came up. But I will keep trying different ways. šŸ™‚ I recall the story perfectly and did find one similar written in the 1800s lol but it wasn’t the right one.
