Book Blurb:

Violet led a reclusive life, always behind the scenes, that’s how she preferred it. Focusing on herself and her education, that’s what her mom would’ve wanted. Being so focused on her goals, she’s left little time for fun, or love for that matter. When she’s chosen to be her best friend’s maid of honor, she immediately agrees. When she finds out the wedding is in California, far from her home in Pennsylvania, she couldn’t be more excited. Would this finally be her break? She vows to let loose and enjoy herself for the first time in a long time. She meets a handsome stranger who makes her question if she’d ever even want to return home. Exotic and cultured Xavier, entices her with a life she never dreamed of. It isn’t until she starts uncovering dark secrets from his past, that she realizes he isn’t who he says he is. Some guys really are too good to be true.**WARNING** This book contains disturbing sexual content and violent situations. Intended for 18 years and above.

My review:

This story quickly went from a chick lit vibe to a jaw-dropping thriller. When Violet, an innocent college girl, meets a guy at her friend’s bachelorette party, he soon sweeps her off her feet. A lot of women would see through his smooth, polished act, but Violet is his perfect victim. I know some readers find violent sex scenes steamy and there’s a whole subgenre of erotica devoted to that, but I was rooting for Violet to get away from the start and found nothing hot about what this guy was doing to her. This was a fast-paced read with great descriptions and a quick-thinking protagonist that will keep you turning the pages.

My rating: 5/5 stars
