My December Blogging Recap

The successes

December was a really fun month for blogging. With Blogmas, a new published book, and posting some of my goals for 2022, there was much to say. In addition, I actually reached the highest # of views EVER in the history of my blogging in December! My # of views topped out at 2.5 K for the month. It takes time and effort to maintain a blog and I admit that I enjoy the work – it’s something I look forward to doing when I wake up. And the effort does pay off if you’re patient and keep your goals realistic.

The giveaway

I hosted a little giveaway for a $10 Amazon gift card which was fun! I hadn’t done that in a few years and it’s a great way to give back to your followers. I’d like to do one with a higher value this year – so stay tuned for another freebie.

Blogmas & My 2022 Goals

I think Blogmas was a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit and it was a creativity challenge, too. I’ve also noticed that posting about certain goals publicly can help me feel more accountable to them – and hopefully other people who read them felt motivated, too. That’s what I love about blogging – when you others’ posts, you can glean good insights from others. It’s a great community over here at WordPress. I’m excited for what January – and the rest of the year – will bring.

Blogging Frequency & Views

I posted just about every day in December though there were a few days I didn’t to give myself and readers a little break. It seems that posting often does give your viewership a boost. It’s a no brainer that new content will attract new views that day, though what I’d like to establish is a momentum where even the days I don’t post, people will want to return to my blog. That’s probably the biggest challenge for the blogger – maintaining interest even on the days that you don’t post anything. Views certainly aren’t everything and some days, you’re just not going to have a lot of visitors no matter what you do. Since I’m still in the building phase of my blog, it’s something I’ve been paying attention to. On that note, I’m going to give myself a break this January from checking my stats daily. I will challenge myself to stay away from the Insights and Traffic section on the admin panel and not check until the end of the month. 😛 I hope the results will be a pleasant surprise!

Happy January!

I hope you all had a nice December and I want to wish you a happy and healthy January! It’s a fresh new year and you can make it the year of your life. ❤

Until next time, take good care and happy blogging!

  1. Glad you’re seeing results. I did some test months where I posted everyday and engagement was great….but its a lot of work so I tend to stick to every other day 💜

  2. Happy for your fruitful December! Consistency and frequency definitely is a big key to upping and maintaining viewership. Seeing you has definitely made me think about doing more than once a week posts. May 2022 be a great year of blogging for us all!

  3. Thanks for mentioning my blog in your post Day of Blogmas 1 from December 14th 2021.😀

I just noticed it now but can’t post my thanks there because Comments are now closed.

  4. Sara, I appreciate your engagement. I would love to post more myself. I love the work of writing. My schedule is such that it is practically impossible to do much more than I do. Two to three posts per month is about my top mark. Any tips would be appreciated. 😁. Good luck this year!!
