Self-Care Sunday – Decluttering Your Home

Clever Ways To De-Clutter Your Space

Nothing takes a load off your shoulders like having a clean, organized home. Here’s some great ways to help de-clutter your room/space to make it look more aesthetic – and to help you think clearer. I’ve been incorporating these things into my own life as well and I love how much more open my room feels when I do this.

Put Fruit/Snacks In A Bowl – It looks so pretty and saves space!

Make Your Bed – Nothing makes a room look put together like a made bed.

Wash And Put Away Dishes – Ah, clear counter space.

Organize cupboards and drawers – I swear doing this makes you feel like a new person.

Use totes/containers to store belongings, clothes, accessories, and food. It’s amazing how doing this can transform your space. I love those cool black boxes you can get from Ikea and Dollarama actually has a lot of black plastic boxes you can put all your food or loose items in. The clutter will be gone!

Give away clothing/items you’re not using anymore. You can either give your unused things away to a charity or sell them. This frees up a lot of clutter from your home.

Store away things you’re not using currently. To make more space in a certain area of the home, you can store away extra things you’re not currently using, such as appliances, cooking stuff, out of season shoes/coats/clothes, etc.

Be happy with less. Coming from a single girl with no kids who likes to live a minimalist lifestyle, this is easy to accomplish. Even in a micro condo, I have lots of space in my place because I don’t use a lot of furniture. If you have a house with a family (or you love collecting things), you’re of course going to want more things in the home. I think being happy with less applies to everyone, though, if you’re looking to free up space. We’re all going to have our own comfort level of what is enough or too much. Some people might think my space looks too empty, but it makes me smile and breathe easier.

Install shelves/cabinets. If you have a lot of things you don’t want to get rid of, having cabinets for extra storage or putting up shelves to display your items helps a lot.

I hope you found this helpful and/or informative. De-cluttering and organizing your space does wonders for the mind I find. I hope you all have a lovely day! πŸ™‚
