This was such a great read that I couldn’t put it down. Our protagonist is a brave teenaged girl who loves her family deeply, despite how much she’s been hurt. ((Spoiler alert)) The domestic violence scenes in this story are difficult and feel very real, but it amazes me how she picks herself up every time and continues to be strong. What I love is how she still finds the capacity to love even after all the years she’s been abused. She experiences even more pain when her crush rejects her – just like her father always has. It’s not until a secret is revealed that the family is able to start on the long path of healing. I loved the literary quality of the author’s writing and the ending was satisfying. I’m very happy that I read this story!
