Book Review: Secrets Of The Volkovs

Book blurb:

Disappearances, deaths, threats… The local police are beginning to suspect all these crimes are linked. They’re being committed by the sinister and mysterious Volkov family. There’s just one problem: They can’t prove it. In order to take down the Volkovs and put a stop to these crimes, they call in a young, ambitious policeman, Antonin Jelennski.

My review:

Antonin is a young cop who’s sent to get information on a very dangerous family. No one who has been victimized by the Volkovs is willing to speak out for fear of worse things happening to them. Antonin finds a way to befriend quirky Dariya by meeting her at a club – and it goes surprisingly well. She leads him right to the house and they soon start to see through one another’s acts. It is there that he sees the full extent of the cruelty done by her father – he’s a total madman and a violent one at that.

This was a pretty quick read and with the action & suspense, it was hard to put down. The ending was sadder than I expected (no spoilers), but it ends on a cliffhanger. It’s the first book in a series. I saw at the end of the book that it was translated to English. Overall it was a great read!

My rating: 4/5 stars
