Book Review: The Woman In The Woods

Book Blurb:

The new psychological thriller from J.E. Rowney, bestselling author of “I Can’t Sleep”.

Seb is an asshole. Katie is an angel.
When Seb’s night-time activity stretches their relationship to its limits, they couple decide to take a last-chance holiday to see if there’s anything left to be fixed.
The cabin looked idyllic, but behind the soft furnishings and fluffy throws there’s a creeping sense of unease.
They thought they were fighting for their relationship – will they end up fighting for their lives?

My Review:

A great thriller

This was a great story and pretty much what I was looking for. I enjoyed the whimsical, almost fairytale-like setting amidst the couple’s bickering. Seb’s over analyzing of Katie’s choices is annoying yet I felt bad for him when she’d get mad at him for simply being logical sometimes. Their relationship is on the rocks and they’re on a holiday to see if they can repair their relationship. I enjoyed Dex, the couple’s pet. I thought the story’s arc was very good – it wasn’t your typical ghost story. Overall it was a well-written thriller at a nice novella length.

    • You might like it. ๐Ÿ˜œ It’s a good thriller that keeps you on your toes. I didn’t like how the girl was really mean to him when he was more logical, but interesting how they processed things while being in a thriller.

      • I’m sure that it would’ve added to the stress that they were both feeling at the beginning of the book, like you had mentioned haha I wonder if it brought them closer together, deciding that whatever had happened at the cabin was bigger than their arguments/relationship troubles, or if it just pulled them further apart.. Definitely sounds like an interesting read, so thank you for the book review and for keeping it spoiler free ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Iโ€™m just getting into different genres of books, I kind of always stuck to urban fiction type of books. I agree with โ˜๐Ÿพ this does sound like a good book to read. Iโ€™ll have to add that to my goodreads list.
