Book Review: Old World Boys

Book Review:

This book is a great start to a dystopian series where the Old World is gone (Reduced to little more than a desert wasteland). Emma, the daughter of a man in power and a woman who longs for the beauty of the old world, is stationed at a base that has rebooted an old cruel experiment. A group of boys trained for battle are treated more like machines than humans. Disgusted by the Tower for treating children this way, Emma forms a bond with one of the boys called Nine – despite the fact that he’s one of the most dangerous in the clan. I enjoyed the purity of their connection and in the end this is what makes Nine stronger than the others, because it gives him something (and someone) to live for. I imagined this story playing out like a TV drama and I would love to see the series made into a Netflix original – it’s that good.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series! While the ending is sad, there’s hope there and I imagine there are epic things to follow.

My Rating: 5/5 stars (It was everything I hoped the story would be and more! It reminds me a little bit of the research facility in Stranger Things, too.)
