If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might already know that I am a rain lover. Since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed the rain and cloudy days. What is it about the rain that I really enjoy?
It Boosts My Mood
There’s something about slate grey skies, fresh damp air, the sound, the colours, the smell – everything feels quieter and deeper when it rains. I’ve always been sensitive to light. While I like the sun, I think rainy days resonate with me more, because I like dimmer lighting and well, I find the smells and sounds of rain to be inspiring and calming.
Everything Looks Prettier
This is just my opinion, but I think the rain makes any surrounding look more attractive. The colours pop or seem sharper. Fog adds dimension. The dim can look really lovely to some.
It’s Quieter
Nature trails have less people. People won’t go outside on the streets unless they need to. It’s like an introvert’s little playground whenever it rains. I think it also makes people introspective since they are either inside or taking a lone walk – the sun can be distracting for some people while the rain can have a calming effect. I love that.
Fog and Mists
I mentioned this before, but it deserves its own heading. Fog and/or mist adds a different dimension. It can make the place you’re familiar with look totally different. Fog always feels so dreamy and mists give off a fantasy-like vibe.
It Looks So Pretty On The Window
If you’re sitting at a cafe, riding in the car/bus, or lounging at home, look out the window when it rains. The way that the raindrops fall on the glass can look really cool – and you get an interesting skewed perspective of the outside world.
I hope you enjoyed this little rain appreciation post. I hope you have a wonderful day!

As a fellow rain lover- this list made me smile. I feel so at home on rainy, moody days and agree with you that it creates lovely conditions for introverts! 💗
I’m glad you can relate. There’s something so soothing and wonderful about rain. ❤
There is something so peaceful when you’re tucked up all cosy and hearing the rain beat against that window. The fog is magical too 🙂
Yes that’s so true. :3 ❤
It’s definitely a refreshing boost hearing soothing rain when you’re snug indoors. Very atmospheric for writing! 🙂
That’s so true. Thank you so much for reading. 🙂
Definitely appreciated this post! I love the rain so much, so calming.

I’m very much a sun person, but if it’s going to be overcast then I’d much rather have rain. And there’s something beautifully mysterious about fog in the morning.
I’m glad you can appreciate rain even though you prefer sun.
We have no rain here but so much snow. You have rain there.

Yes lots of rain. 🤩
A fellow pluviophile! I like rain for the reasons you mentioned, especially in summer. I live in a place where rain is rare in summer, so it’s extra special when it happens.
I’m glad you enjoy the rain when it comes. 😊
